Aren't phones amazing these days? We can talk, text, plan, email, share on and check social media and so much more.
But is that always a good thing. Every single time I go to a restaurant, I see people busy on their phones completely ignoring the people they are actually spending time with.
There are times when it's important to take a phone call or check a message. I do it. Maybe if I'm meeting friends at a restaurant and they can't find where we are, they'd call and of course, I'd take the call. I think the vast majority of people understand this.
But having been on the receiving end of being sat in silence whilst the other person is constantly on the phone in a restaurant, I can tell you it's not a nice feeling.
What's even worse is when you're in the middle of saying something to someone, the phone rings and they just answer it as if you haven't been speaking.
People are important. If someone calls, you can call them back later. Texts, emails do not need replying to immediately.
Just think about this. When you;re on your deathbed (sorry to be morbid) will you be thinking, I'm so pleased I put my phone first? I think not.
So pop your phone down. put it away and focus on the people you're with.
