Quick Tips for life blog review and changes

Hi Everyone,

I feel it's time for a review.

As you know I set up this blog as an experiment to see if it was possible to make money from a free blog and not following the standard blogging rules.

The blogs been fairly consistent but doesn't particularly seem to be growing that much. Although we are still only in the early stages.

Up to this point, I've been blogging every day.  I've enjoyed this process so far but with a busy workload in over the coming months, I feel that I need to rethink my posting schedule.

Shifting to weekly posts.

What I'm going to do for the time being is to shift to posting every Monday.  

I like the blog and want to keep it going but for now, I need to put my focus onto my other 2 blogs

Morning Business Chat Business and life advice and support.

 

Ideal Weight Challenge Positive tips for weight loss, healthy living and following my own weight loss journey.

I also have a busy workload with coaching clients over the coming months and feel that although the quick tips posts are short, they are still very time-consuming with a daily schedule.

So that's my plan going forward.

September Blog Experiment Update

Hi Everyone,

If you're new to the blog, welcome.  I set this blog up as a kind of experiment and because I enjoy sharing tips.

I wanted to see if I could create a successful blog on a free site, with no paid domain name and literally just sharing daily QUICK TIPS.

On my business blog Morning Business Chat I usually write posts that are a minimum of 500 words and often well over 1000 words.  But I wanted the quick tips blog to share just one daily tip and keep it simple.  Most posts are just a few sentences.

My first post was published on the 15th June 2016.  And I've posted daily ever since.

So here's what's going on.

August pageviews - 1505

This is a little lower than I was expecting but lots of my blogging friends have reported a drop over the summer, so I'm fine with this.

The most viewed post is 

Housekeeping Quick Tip: Zone each room, tidy, clean and de-clutter

My audience is mostly from United States, followed by United Kingdom and then Germany. Please say hello in the comments below and let me know where you're from.

Facebook is the social media platform driving the most traffic.

Adsense My estimated earnings from the blog so far is a grand total of £0.74 - Okay I'm not going to live the high life on this am I?  But it's a start.

So that's what I've got for you so far.  Do let me know what sort of tips you want to see on the blog and please follow for daily updates.

Quick Tips for life Blog Review

If you're new here then you might want to first read my page about why I set this blog up The Quick Tips Experiment

For a super quick run down.  This blog is an experiment that breaks most of the blogging rules.  I'm simply doing what I want and seeing what happens.

Every now and then I like to let you know how the blog is doing and about any updates I've made.

I published my first blog post on 15th June this year (2016) and I've posted at least one post daily ever since.

Page views

June: 691 page views

July 1652

It's hard to judge the progress as I only started publishing posts midway through June.  I'm very pleased with the page views for July, especially as I was away for over a week and didn't really promote the daily posts at all during that time.

I'm hoping for over 2500 for August.

Traffic

I haven't quite got to grips with the stats yet but as far as I can see, most of my traffic is coming from Facebook.  

I think adding images with no writing has helped gain this traffic. Although in contrast to my Morning Business Chat blog I don't seem to be getting any traffic from Pinterest.  On that blog, I add images specifically to do well on Pinterest.

Audience

USA is my biggest audience, followed by the UK, Germany and France.  Although I do have a wide audience building right across the world which is great.

Earning an income from the blog

As far as I can tell I've not yet made any money from Adsense ads on the blog (although I have just added the site on Adsense, so may show better results next month).

Again it's hard to tell sometimes if sales come directly from the blog or not.  I saw a slight increase in my course sales though I can't see where those sales have come from.

Overall

I'm very pleased with the success of the blog at this stage.  It's a very new blog in the scale of things and I wouldn't expect to be seeing a vast amount of earnings from the blog just yet.  I'm very pleased with the page views so far.

I think next month's review will really give me a clear indication as to how well the blog is growing.

Quick Tips for Life Blog Review July 8th 2016

Hi, so I thought I'd add in a quick update as to what I'm doing here on the quick tips blog.  I have to tell you that I'm really enjoying creating these quick daily tips and I really hope you're enjoying reading them.

If you do like them please follow the blog below.

So, I am up to 26 posts and 1233 page views.  I had initially thought I'd wait until I had over 100 posts up before adding Adsense to further monetize this blog.

However as I have no intention of filling up the blog with ads at any time, I thought I may as well do it now.

There is one below the post and one at the side.

I already have Adsense on my other two blogs where I share long posts.  I will be really interested to see the results.

Okay, that's all for today.  I'll update you more, later in the month.

Blog review - Adding pictures to posts

Well this is my first blog review and I'm now two weeks into blogging here on the Quick Tips for Life blog.

If you've been following from the start or read my Blogging experiment page, you'll know that I'm breaking so many blogging rules on this blog.

What I really want to do is see if I can just do what I want and not follow the blogging rules for success and still create a successful blog.

So far I haven't added any images.  I have decided I'd like to add a daily image as I share these posts on social media and I'm getting bored looking at my own picture :)

So I'm going to keep the images very simple and see how that goes.
